So, I’ve been seeing a lot of knee tattoos in my Instagram feed lately and just thought I’d share with y’all. I’ve been asked questions about knee tattoos, and I have a lot of thoughts, so I thought I’d share them with you.

There are a lot of misconceptions about how knee tattoos should look like, but one thing that I’ve learned, is that people are mostly mistaken about what “the knee” means. They think knee is the big bumpy area (like your kneecap) on your leg. That doesn’t make any sense. Knee is the term from the Latin word “knee,” which means “tattoo” in ancient Greek.
